My Locale is a book that truly caters to a wide-ranging audience, offering something of value for everyone. Its contents have the potential to inspire and captivate individuals across diverse age groups. From the enchanting illustrations that can delight even the youngest readers starting from the age of 2 and above, to the poetic narrative that can resonate with those in their 50s and beyond, this book holds a universal appeal that transcends age boundaries. It aims to leave a lasting impression, sparking imagination and evoking emotions in readers of all generations.

The idea for "My Locale" was born during my regular calls with my sister and her family, who live abroad. My nephew would excitedly tell me about his weekend adventures, like visiting parks, cycling by the lakeside, hiking on hills, strolling through cherry blossom streets, and playing on beautiful beaches. His pride in his neighborhood sparked a realization within me.

I began contemplating what stories my two-year-old daughter, living in Kerala, would have to share about her own hometown as she grows up. It dawned on me how crucial it is to instill in the next generation an understanding and appreciation for the beauty of our homeland, our beloved Kerala, and our incredible nation, India.

In our everyday lives, it can be challenging to come across a visually captivating 100-meter stretch while going about our regular routines. We live in a functional world where aesthetics and beauty often take a back seat. However, this does not imply that we don’t have any beautiful places. Kerala is abundantly blessed with numerous awe-inspiring natural and manmade wonders. Nevertheless, these extraordinary locations are geographically dispersed, requiring a bit of travel to reach them.

I envisioned the concept of capturing realistic depictions of Kerala's iconic locations through illustrations and bringing them together in a book. The aim was to provide a means for individuals to acquaint themselves with our remarkable landscapes before experiencing them firsthand. This is particularly valuable for children, as they naturally absorb and process information through colors, shapes, and patterns. When they eventually encounter the real-life view of an illustration they have grown familiar with, it triggers recollection and recognition, creating enduring memories. This endeavor serves to cultivate a positive and exquisite image of their homeland, fostering a deep appreciation and connection with its beauty.

My Locale is not designed to be confined to your desk; instead, we wholeheartedly encourage our readers to travel with it and explore the wonders of our home, Kerala.
